Abstract :
As wireless technologies have grown, many people want to use wireless networks during movements. Accordingly, Mobile IPv6 was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force to support the mobility service. However, Mobile IPv6 cannot satisfy requirements of real-time applications such as video streaming service and VoIP service due to its high handover latency. To address this problem, Proxy Mobile IPv6 has been introduced by the Internet Engineering Task Force. Then, optimization issues including Fast Handover are under the proposal phase. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism for re-authentication during the Mobile Node moves from its attachment point to a new attachment point. The proposed mechanism uses the EAP Re-authentication Protocol. We discuss the enhancement of the performance as well as the effect of the environmental parameters.
