  • Abstract
    The European Union´s Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (89/336/EEC) came into force within the United Kingdom on 28th October 1992, with a transition period which ends on 31st December 1995. The scope of the directive covers virtually all electrical and electronic products that are liable to cause interference or to be susceptible to interference from other sources. The scope of the directive therefore covers all motor vehicles and electrical aftermarket products. The author briefly describes the main features of the directive, type approval, and problem areas
