Abstract :
The application of RFID technology to intelligent traffic service systems with the purpose to improve the data quality is used for real-time traffic information gathering. In this paper, we propose a framework in which moving vehicles with attached passive RFID tags can be located with the RFID readers installed at the roadside near the road intersections thus to improve the ITS traffic real-time road status publish service and forecast service. A challenging issue in this approach is to avoid multiple RFID reader collision problems to ensure the integrity of traffic sampling data. The location information of road intersection is preloaded in RFID reader. By tracing individual vehicles´ information we can evaluate the road status throughout the city. Implementations have been conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed framework.
