Abstract
Velocity profile information over the whole cross-section of the flow is required, in order to enable the computation of an improved mean velocity of flow. A new prototype system developed by the authors makes use of an array of ultrasonic Doppler transducers to meet this need in large sewers. The transducers provide multiple velocity measurements across the whole section of the sewer´s flow to provide a velocity profile. The velocity profile, provided by the array of Doppler velocity transducers, can thus be used to improve the accuracy of mean velocity of flow measurements in large sewers
