  • Abstract
    Repeat of preamble is a usual method for time and frequency synchronization in a large group of multicarrier systems. The essential drawback of this method is reduction of maximum estimated frequency offset range with increasing the length of preamble. Recently, Zhang et al. proposed a method for joint frame synchronization and carrier frequency offset estimation scheme in OFDM systems. To the best knowledge of the authors, no extend of this method for MIMO-OFDM systems have been presented in the literature yet. In this paper we propose a new extension of joint frame and frequency synchronization of MIMO-OFDM systems with the preamble we name it "Mirror preamble". Increase the maximum carrier frequency offset acquisition range up to one half of the total bandwidth of all subcarriers is a desire result obtained from mirror preamble. In this paper we have used Zero Correlation Zone (ZCZ) sequences in the proposed preamble structure and to the contrary of Zhang et al. that neglected the effects of dispersive multi-path channel in their analysis, we have a discussion about reduction of these effects in the methods based mirror preamble.
