Abstract
A most promising technique for the design of energy efficient radio frequency (RF) transmitters is based on modulating the supply of the main power amplifier (PA) by a DC/DC converter. However, the slow time-response of DC/DC converters compared to the large bandwidth of the RF signal to transmit is an obstacle for application to broadband communications. In this paper, a digital signal processing structure enabling the use of bandwidth-limited DC/DC converters, and resulting in linear, efficiency-enhanced transmitter behaviour is presented. Models of the PA and DC/DC converters are used to validate the principle through simulation procedures
