Abstract :
This work describes a prototype system that examines kinesic and linguistic behavior. The prototype is not a fully functional, autonomous system; numerous steps in linguistic and kinesis analysis are currently manual. However, the system represents a reasonable proof-of-concept. Using the system, novice lie-catchers experienced improvement in their assessment ability. However, had they incorporated more of the systempsilas recommendations, they would have performed better. An examination of the reasons behind the novicespsila judgments indicates that novices most frequently turned to the system when they were unsure of their own, unaided judgment.
