Abstract :
The driving forces behind the requirement for innovative power devices in many-core processor power supplies are reviewed. Performance of GaN based power devices especially in point of load application such as VRMs for CPUs are presented and compared to state of the art alternatives. The prospects for high efficiency, high density conversion to optimally support future multi-core processor units is discussed.
