Abstract
A large quantity of products are sold by their shape features, hence, process engineers are including more and more accurate 3D digitisers in their manufacturing assembly lines. Data acquisition and data processing speed are becoming important issues to be considered when choosing the right device to be incorporated in the inspection equipment without the loss of accuracy. This paper presents an exhaustive review of the state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning digitisers, and proposes a classification technique of such systems.
