Abstract
This paper presents an active power filter which uses the distorted power network voltage to derive the compensation current references necessary for the active filter to compensate the network voltage to a sinusoid. This control philosophy allows the active filter to be connected to the appropriate busbar without the need to install current transducers on the busbar incomer and hence reduces the cost and disruption caused by the installation of such a filter
