Abstract :
The Air Force Research Lab Discovery Lab has facilitated the completion of this project. Improvements in combat equipment have protected the torso of the soldiers fighting overseas, but have left the head and extremities vulnerable. The problem is that the knowledge in the field of surgical training is not easily accessible. Thus, the purpose of this project was to develop an instructional module for lower extremity fasciotomy that would guide surgeons with limited trauma experience through tablet-based technologies. The project has created an application in which the art of the lower extremity fasciotomy procedure is demonstrated. The purpose of this paper is to describe the project in detail.
