Abstract :
This paper presents a means for determining and reporting power transfer limits with respect to avoiding thermal, low voltage, and voltage collapse problems. The technique uses contingency analysis to select the most limiting contingencies, then generates PV curves for the selected cases. Adaptive transfer increments and limits on the transfer range to study are used to give the algorithm the speed necessary for on line applications. The results of the computer implementation of the approach are also presented
