Abstract
Providing VCR-like functions in distributed environments is not trivial, especially for multi-stream multimedia presentations, which may contain continuous media, e.g., audio and video, and static media, e.g., text and image. In this paper we: point out the main problems in interactive multimedia communications; propose some concepts to solve the problems; identify the control architecture for processing user interactions; and propose the synchronization control scheme accordingly
