Abstract :
At the beginning of this paper, the problems of PI regulator in stationary and synchronous rotating reference frames are revealed from the stand of steady-state error and complexity of implementation. Then, a separate control method is proposed to improve the drawbacks of these traditional control methods. The new approach has the advantages of zero steady-state error for reactive power correction and excellent performance for harmonic current compensation too, for example, a shunt active power quality conditioner (APQC). Simulation analysis and experimental results with 50 kVA APQC prototype are also given in the paper. The advantages and feasibility of the proposed approach are verified
