Abstract
This paper examines the new technology of a second generation integrated AC induction motor drive consisting of a software-implemented frequency converter and induction motor within the physical envelope of an AC motor. It exhibits comparable performance to stand-alone motor and inverter combinations in both constant torque and variable torque applications. The paper describes in detail the development of the product jointly designed and manufactured by Brook Hansen and Danfoss Ltd
