Abstract :
The performance evaluation of a frequency-shift-keyed (FSK) demodulator using a discriminator and low-pass filter is evaluated. The proposed procedure is semianalytic: the useful signal components are processed by simulation, while the noise effects are evaluated by analytic computations. For this purpose, an original approach for the evaluation of the statistical properties of a filtered non-Gaussian process is presented. The proposed procedure allows the consideration of a general class of post-demodulation filters and the results obtained are in agreement with those obtained using more expensive error-counting techniques. An example of application to digital sound transmission in direct TV broadcasting satellite systems is also given.<>
