Abstract
The paper presents a PWM current source inverter with only one unidirectional capacitor. This enables the reduction of filter elements in current source inverters. Moreover resonances, especially on the motor side, and reactive power on the line side can be avoided. The proposed inverter realizes motor and generator operation without phase shift between line voltage and line current. The asynchronous motor can be operated in both the motor as well as the generator mode with energy recovery into the mains
