Abstract :
A rigorous analysis of the static Scherbius drive with two IGBT sinusoidal current converters in the rotor circuit is presented. The analysis is based on a hybrid dq model in which stator variables only are transformed on to a frame of reference stationary with respect to the rotor. Instantaneous values of drive currents, voltages and torque are computed for a 1.4 MW drive, allowing fully for all switching effects of supply and rotor converter devices
