Abstract :
The main disadvantage of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is the high time-domain peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) that limits transmitter power efficiency. Partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique can improve the PAPR statistics of an OFDM signal significantly. However the PTS technique requires an exhaustive search over all combinations of allowed phase factors, and the search complexity increases exponentially with the number of sub-blocks. In this paper, a suboptimal PTS algorithm with harmony search is applied to decrease the search complexity, numerical results show that the proposed approach can achieve excellent performance with lower computational complexity when compared with that of other PTS approaches.
