Abstract :
An inventory of the copper smelters that can accept electronic scrap has been conducted. In addition, information has been gathered about their requirements on the content of the scrap. Figures (and qualitative requirements) have been received showing both the maximum allowable concentration of elements and maximum concentrations of elements accepted without economic penalties for the end-of-life treatment. From those requirements generic design rules have been established and then compared with a realistic probable content of today´s electronics. The situation regarding critical elements is also commented
