Abstract :
Due to the randomness of the transmitted waveform, the range sidelobe after pulse compression of ground clutter in noise radar covers with the whole Doppler frequency domain, which forms a “noise floor” with the weaker signals drowned. Traditional moving target indicator (MTI) only applies to the radar with periodic transmitted signal for ground clutter suppression, while can not applies to noise radar directly. A method for ground clutter suppression using noise radar with dual frequency is proposed in this paper. The phase difference caused by the dual frequencies is used for high precision range estimate of the maximal energy clutter, and the range-measuring ambiguity can be resolved by the rough range estimated by the pulse compression processing method. Finally the strongest clutter is filtered by the CLEAN technique, and the next potential clutter is detected and filtered. The proposed method combining the CLEAN technique and the high precision range estimate method can effectively suppress the ground clutter in noise radar. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the method.
