  • Abstract
    Rapidly and efficiently designing 3D solid furniture models, based on reusing existing models, are very important to refine the processing and reduce the producing cycle. According to a selected model structure, with our novel overall size driven assembly parts, in this paper, we propose a modeling by example approach to constructing models in 3D CAD. This approach mainly has two merits: (1) It can simply and rapidly construct new models using the existing models, (2) It can automatically reconstruct parameterized models and conveniently get a series of similar structure new models only by adjusting a few parameters. The results of experiments in solid furniture design application show that our approach can greatly improve the efficiency of modeling in 3D CAD.
