Abstract :
The sustainability for companies may mean the compatibility between environment and business and therefore inevitably require an environmental technology innovation. From this point of view, the author has proposed the Pos./Neg. evaluation method as a behavior principle or guideline for a company and as an idea tool or an evaluation index for R&D people. In the Pos./Neg. method, the conventional activities to reduce environmental burdens in the present system are addressed as Negative. The innovative and directly effective ones to environment are addressed as Positive. The method recommends Pos. activities as the future direction for companies. In this paper, adding zero states to Pos./Neg. scales of the fourteen attributes in order to help create a clear understanding of the criteria definitions and the easy decision in Pos./Neg. judgment was tried. The definitions of zero states intend them to be the balanced points to barely keep sustainability, which suggests that the formula will be helpful in judging whether the goal of an activity is sufficient to obtain sustainability
