Abstract :
In order to test target detection and tracking methods and develop new ones, images taken with infrared (IR) camera are used. However, it is impractical to capture images for all kinds of conditons. For this reason, it is important to generate IR scene for various scenarios. Modeling the cloud background present in the synthetic IR scene correctly, for the military application scenarios such as guided missile simulations that has IR seekers launched from surface to air and from air to air, is a critical requirement to test the performance of detection and tracking techniques and develop new techniques. In this paper, cloud radiance textures that have realistic radiance values in the IR band, have been obtained from noise textures generated by Perlin noise. Modtran has been used for radiometric calculations related to the cloud layer.
