Abstract :
A novel technique for shaping the complex multi-lobe patterns of conformal or planar antenna arrays is presented. The proposed technique is based on the matrix synthesis method that was implemented for the array of waveguide-fed axial slots on a perfectly conducting infinite circular cylinder. The synthesis technique combined with 3D EM model of the cylindrical array allows controlling the multi-lobe pattern of array including directions, relative amplitudes and phases of the individual lobes. The potential of this technique can be efficiently employed in communications applications, for example, for signal reception by multi-path propagation.
