Abstract :
A comb-type of compact microstrip line photonic band-gap (PBG) structure employing T-type microstrip line for filter was presented. A miniaturized band rejection filter with four cells was simulated, fabricated and measured. The filter with proposed PBG structure exhibited band rejection characteristics (lower than -10 (IB from 23 GHz ~ 32 GHz). The center frequency of stop-band was at 28 GHz. The period of the PBG lattice was about 0.15lambdac. The line length of the filter with PBG cell employing T-type microstrip line was reduced to about 10.4 mm, and its size was 14% of the conventional band rejection filter. The filter was very compact, much easier for fabrication and realization in MIC and MMIC.
