Abstract
This paper presents an approach for fault detection and isolation (FDI) using an adaptive observer. The FDI scheme is based on joint state and parameter estimator which consists of a procedure based on Narendra´s error model, obtained by an extended linearization technique using Kronecker´s calculation. The methodology is applied on a non-linear biological process where faults are modelled as changes in the system parameters
