Abstract :
Just-in-time signaling is the combination of circuit switching and packet switching. This provides low latency and high throughput. This uses the out of band signaling of control packet signaling and the data burst remains in the optical format till it reaches the destination. There is no optical to electrical and electrical to optical conversion of data burst in the intermediate nodes. The existing JIT signaling is slightly modified to reduce the number of overheads used in this signaling scheme. The modified JIT signaling scheme uses less number of overheads compared to the existing JIT. By modifying the ring architecture and implementing the modified JIT it is found that compared to the ring network, the performance improves by more than 1.5 times
