Abstract :
This paper presents a comparative study for the performance of a DC to AC converter using a new switching strategy. Precalculated switching angles are used to determine the gating signals to be applied to the semiconductor switches. The inverter performance, measured in terms of the total harmonic distortion (THD) rate, can be substantially reduced, depending on the number of commutations per period of the output voltage and the low pass filter characteristics. Both simulation and experimental results are presented for a comparison between different families of switching angles
