Abstract :
Traditional voltage stability assessment normally treats system with uniform load and generation growth. This does not reflect the actual system condition and may mislead the status of the system. An approach to voltage stability assessment with consideration of uneven regional load growth and generation dispatch patterns is proposed through load forecasting and economic dispatch in this paper. Load growth patterns in different regions are determined by day-ahead regional load forecasting. Furthermore, economic dispatch scheme is applied to determine generation pattern in Continuation Power Flow (CPFLOW), P-V curves are calculated and then the stability limit can be predicted. This approach is implemented on IEEE 6-bus and IEEE 118-bus system respectively, the results show that it is a better tool for the voltage stability assessment.
