            Abstract : 
A new concept of a low-speed direct servomotor drive is presented. Details of the motor construction and of the control concept are shown. The motor is a special reluctance motor with a transverse flux path that is free of expensive permanent magnets and has a cost-effective highly modular structure. The controller supplies the motor with optimized current waveforms for smoothing the torque. Measurements show the good dynamics and high accuracy of the system.
