Abstract
With the recent advancement of communication technologies and sensors, the so-called dynamic rating could be realized in the future. The dynamic rating is a method to develop accurate ratings of components in power systems by utilizing real-time weather information. And the phase shifting transformer is a facility that changes voltage phase angles and power flows in a system. Under the deregulated environment, the dynamic rating and phase shifting transformer could be considered to be available for the efficient use of the network. However when these two methods are applied at the same time, because power flows are considered in the dynamic rating, we have to pay attention to the change of power flows and transmission capacities. In this paper, we propose a method to calculate the tap position of a phase shifting transformer considering the effect of the dynamic rating. And we simulate the proposed method and confirm the validity of the proposed dynamic rating and phase shifting transformer application from the viewpoint of transfer capability.
