Abstract :
This paper implements base and contingency cases analysis for Jordanian transmission system using software package (PSS/E) to study the impact of inclusion the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) in the Jordanian power system under different levels of power exchange with Egyptian and Syrian power systems. The studies emphasize the ability to maintain safety and efficient operations of the transmission system on both steady state and transient conditions. It also investigates the possibility to improve the overall performance of the power system and strengthen its ability to solve some stability issues within the Mediterranean Ring that connects electric power transmission grids among the countries that encircle the Mediterranean Sea.
