Abstract :
In this paper, a control strategy is proposed for HAVE DASH II bank-to-turn (BTT) missile in two separate channels using sliding mode control (SMC) with a combination of first order and dynamic switching surfaces. Due to the weak coupling of pitch channel with the roll and yaw channels, the HAVE DASH II BTT missile model, linearized using stability derivatives is separated into pitch and roll-yaw dynamics. Pitch channel controller is designed using first order switching function and the roll-yaw channel controller is designed using a combination of first order and dynamic switching functions. The proposed control strategy is found to be robust with various sets of stability derivatives. Also, this control strategy eliminates the chattering phenomenon which is present when first order switching functions alone are used in both channels.
