Abstract :
The largest seamless 3-dB gain-bandwidths of 79.9 nm (without gain equalization) and 82.8 nm (with equalization) are achieved from a novel hybrid-amplifier configuration. The amplifier is confirmed to offer low noise. The largest seamless 3-dB gain-bandwidths of 79.9 nm at 25-dB peak gain without gain equalization, and 82.8 nm at 22-dB peak gain with equalization were achieved using a hybrid amplifier. The amplifier employed a novel configuration with distributed Raman amplifiers and EDFAs
