Abstract :
Recently, due to the rapid development of IT technology and the penetration of internet through super high-speed internet network, lots of network-enabled multimedia devices are spread in the home network. However, there are integration and management problems because of their incompatibility. In this paper, we propose home multimedia integration system that integrates multimedia devices and services in the home network using UPnP and Service Convergence Gateway (SCG) engine. The SCG engine is a gateway engine for service convergence among devices. This home multimedia integration system pursued the integration of services of home multimedia devices and its contents, and tried to enable their management and control easily. Using this system, we can use any media contents that contained in any multimedia devices, regardless of where media contents are physically stored. Also, this system provides two methods to expand the system to the outside of home network. One is allowance of connections from the outside of home network, and the other is to make a external multimedia contents service information storage to integrate multimedia contents services which are provided by outside of home network. In addition, we evaluate this system by implementing core parts of the system.
