TOYOTA HAS announced at the CES consumer electronics trade show in Las Vegas that it will allow widespread use of over 5,000 of its patents relating to hydrogen-fuel-cell technology until at least 2020. "ydrogen and hydrogen-fuelcell technology will be a social, environmental and economic game-changer," Bob Carter, senior vice-president of automotive operations with Toyota US, told delegates. "Hydrogen-electric will be the primary fuel for the next hundred years." Carter pledged Toshiba would do everything possible to "kick-start the development of hydrogen re-fuelling infrastructure".
