Abstract :
A graphical user interface for structural knowledge, GUS, which provides an interactive mouse and menu-driven interface for capturing the structural knowledge for a specific application domain is presented. This domain is a large-scale communications network system. GUS is implemented on a Symbolics 3670 Lisp machine in Zetalisp. A combination of the mouse, menus, window system, and object-oriented flavors package provide the necessary tools for building GUS. User interaction is primarily by manipulation of a mouse-controlled cursor. Components are selected with the mouse for addition from a library of component icons and then positioned on the drawing area. A critical evaluation and comparison with other similar tools is also presented
