Abstract :
A new approach of digital relays for transmission line protection is presented. The proposed algorithm is designed based on differential sum of instantaneous RMS values of sending end as well as receiving end currents. The method is very effective and it not only detects the normal faults but also faults with high impedances. The faulty phase detection and classification is also done. Results are carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
