Visualization and Decision Support Tools for Transmission Operations

Summary form only given. American Electric Power is making enhancements to its visualization and decision support tools in the control center. Such tools should be useful for control area coordinators, responsible for the overall health of the electrical grid, and also visualization that could be used by the front line transmission dispatchers that are responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the system. This presentation discusses technical requirements and some of the new types of displays and visualization techniques being developed
