Abstract
Organizations are slow in utilising information technology in facilitating employment screening. This research assesses the impact of IT in employment background screening. Statistical analysis of quantitative information obtained from an email survey questionnaire, illustrates the impact. It has been supported that online background screening systems are effective. IT enables structured harvesting of employee information, improves turnaround time, drives down cost of labour, provides more robust systems, enables improved quality and speed of decision making capabilities and closes the gap between reach and richness of information. A new contribution to measuring IT effectiveness in this study is the inclusion of group benefits with the USE variables in this setting.
