Abstract :
This paper discusses challenges that arise when wind power generation sites are integrated into utility systems and how superconducting dynamic synchronous condensers (DSC) can be applied to address these challenges. Descriptions of specific concerns often encountered in wind generation interconnection agreements are discussed along with a specific example of how superconducting synchronous condensers could be applied to alleviate these concerns in a real world wind generation system. This paper concludes that the DSC technology can improve the low voltage ride through capability of real wind farm systems
