Abstract
A 1D linear array vision system for use in the textile industry is described, with attention given to setup and maintenance, programmability, distributed processing, and input/output configurations. A number of applications of the linear array sensor are presented. It is noted that although the 1D linear array vision system described here does not have the capability of the matrix vision system or the intelligence of a human being performing an inspection, there are many applications where it can provide low-cost, simplified maintenance and distributed processing
