Abstract :
This paper analyzes prospects in future energy networks to meet expected demand with a multi-carrier energy system in dependence of storage power. We describe solution approaches to solve a multi-period optimization model that combines different energy storages within a network of clusters of local energy converters and storages, so called “Energy Hubs”. The planning of the Energy System is tested through a case study with demand, prices and renewable energy generation data across a total of one week. Three storage devices operate along with intermittent renewable energy sources which are combined to a multi power generation system conceptualized on the Energy Hub Model. To develop a better approach, the idea of energy storage strategy is examined on the basis of the computational optimization system to identify the finest energy storages configuration in presence of intermittent renewable energy sources. Analytical results show the ability of the synergy of energy carriers combined with storages remarkably contributed to an energy balance.
