Abstract :
A semiconductor optical amplifier simulator (SOASim) and its modeling background are presented. SOASim has the capability to consider semiconductor optical amplifiers under amplitude-modulated input current feeding. Experimental results including all-optical pulse reshaping applications are shown with good agreement with simulations. Several gigabit rate operation may be obtained if the SOA could achieve gain recovery time below 10 picoseconds
