Abstract :
For power systems the problem of system observability lies in the solution of the state-estimation problem, which is the main component in modern power system management. Measurements of system parameters that allow monitoring of the power system are essential for energy management system applications and control center strategies. This paper will provide the ability to monitor the observability condition of a DC multi-converter based power system around system equilibrium points. The condition number of an observability Jacobian matrix is the performance measure and it quantifies how observable the system is based on available measurement sets. As the system becomes unobservable, the less reliable state estimation becomes, thereby affecting overall performance through capability degradation of controllers.
