Abstract :
The Nomura Securities´ new generation online system has realized real-time transaction processing based on open systems interconnection (OSI) and connects more than ten thousand pieces of information processing equipment by several vendors, handling a few million transactions a day. Since standardization for the transaction processing has not been defined, Nomura has developed its own application protocol and profile following standardization activities. Successful operations since September 1988 show the effectiveness of the Nomura OSI. System configuration, upper and lower protocol layers, implementation, OSI-SNA gateway, conformance test, and migration strategy are described
