Abstract
An adaptive zone system is now being studied as one technique for utilizing mobile communications frequencies efficiently. This study establishes some preconditions for generating desirable zone shapes using the least squares algorithm (LSA) to determine the antenna parameters. Using an adaptive zone configuration system simulator, field measurements are performed to confirm whether the target zones can actually be configured. The relative power ratios from theoretical calculations and from field measurements are given. From these results, it is clarified that good performance in configuring zones can be achieved by using the LSA
