Abstract :
Common Information Model standard is developed by IEC TC57 Energy Management Systems and Information Exchanges. In this article we will provide some information regarding CIM extensions for Distribution illustrating several topics : (1) How CIM is used and what is a CIM profile ? (2) Why and how CIM is extended by IEC TC57 working group 14 for Distribution ? (3) General use of CIM information model for Distribution purposes (4) How CIM is used by EDF R&D in its support to EDF Distribution Subsidiary (ERDF) (5) How CIM is leveraged in ERDF operational projects (6) Some feedback regarding interoperability tests for Distribution Finally we will conclude with several challenges in order to use CIM more efficiently in the Distribution Automation domain.
