Abstract
An original spectral evaluation of optical fibre PPM in the presence of jitter is presented using the format cyclostationary properties. The results are used to provide a thorough performance analysis. The extracted slot clock timing variance is evaluated as a function of the PPM number of slots, PLL bandwidth and the normalised fibre bandwidth for both pattern-dependent and receiver noise generated jitter. The probability of wrong slot error (WSE) due to imperfect slot synchronisation is then evaluated and shown to be optimisable through proper selection of the mentioned parameters
